:DEEGEE: Motorsports Photography‘s origins go back to the late sixties and early seventies to childhood memories of the Race of the Year at Mallory Park and the September International meeting held annually at Cadwell Park. Those rare opportunities, along with 60,000 other spectators, to see Grand Prix stars such as Mike Hailwood, “Ago”, Barry Sheene and German sidecar legend Max Deubel competing on local circuits against local circuit specialists fueled David Gowshall’s enthusiasm for motorcycle racing. Living less than twenty minutes from Cadwell Park in the picturesque Lincolnshire Wolds ever since that “golden era”, has allowed David, now armed with a DSLR, to retain and expand on that interest. The modern “stars” are those competing in the Bennetts British Superbike and British Sidecar Championships, including the double Sidecar World Champions, Todd Ellis and Emmanuelle Clement, who are based just ten miles from David’s home. Images from these two high-profile championships form just a part of David’s portfolio, and he spends equal time checking out local varied motorsport club meetings virtually every weekend, featuring two, three and four wheels, in and around Lincolnshire, and rallying in the forests of North Yorkshire and beyond.
